De overwinning op Lancashire CCC is de derde overwinning in de CB40 competitie dit seizoen. Alleen de thuiswedstrijd tegen Middlesex werd verloren. Lancashire kende aan bat een fantastische start. Rond de 30ste over leek het op weg naar een score van rond de 300 Op199 viel het derde wicket viel en het was vooral aan het bowlen van Ahsan Malik (4-24/8), te danken dat de lower order van Lancashire de greep op de wedstrijd verloor. Michael Swart met 4-40/8 rekende de toporder batsmen in.

Het openingspaar, Myburgh en Swart, gaf het publiek, dat in rijen dik rond het veld stond, vervolgens waar het voor gekomen was. Na 9 overs stonden er 80 runs op het scoreboard en waren Myburgh (34) en Swart (41) met prachtige slagen volstrekt de baas over de lancashire bowlers. Helaas verloren beiden snel na elkaar hun wicket, maar Cooper (29) , Borgas (30)  en Barresi (26) bouwden de score van Nederland verder uit. Een collaps volgde en opeens leek het toaal van Lancashire heel ver weg. Bukhari bracht Nederland echter weer terug in de wedstrijd met een aantal ongelofelijke zessen. Het publiek begon er weer in te geloven. Met nog tien runs in twee overs te maken, werd Bukhari (36) op de midwicket boundary gevangen en was het aan Van der Gugten en Malik om met scherp runnen de wedstrijd alsnog in het voordeel van Nederland te beslissen. Op de vierde bal van de laatste over wist Malik de bal tussen de fielders van Lancashire te plaatsen. Malik ontving uit handen van Umpire Lloyds de door ABNAMRO beschikbaar gestelde 'Most Valuable Player of the Day' prijs. Dinsdag 29 mei speelt Nederland op Excelsior tegen Essex CCC.

Dutch stun Lancashire to go top

The Netherlands took over at the top of Group A in the Clydesdale Bank 40 thanks to a nail-biting win over Lancashire in Schiedam. The last-wicket pairing of Timm van der Gugten and Ahsan Malik managed to sneak the home side to their target of 237 with just two deliveries to spare.

Stephan Myburgh (34) and Michael Swart (41) had given the Netherlands the perfect start in their run chase, sharing an opening stand of 83 inside 10 overs. There were also contributions from middle-order duo Cameron Borgas, who made 30, and wicketkeeper Wesley Barresi (26) before Mudassar Bukhari belted a breezy 36 in the closing stages to give the Dutch renewed hope. When he fell with nine still required, Lancashire looked to be favourites, however Van der Gugten made a run-a-ball 15 not out to finish the job off and give his side a third win in four outings in this season's competition. Stephen Parry claimed four for 29 in a losing cause for previously unbeaten Lancashire, who had been bowled out for 236 earlier in the day.

The Red Rose county could have set the Dutch a much tougher challenge after openers Stephen Moore and Ashwell Prince laid the foundations by putting on 89. Moore blasted 10 fours and a six to top score with 77 from just 66 balls and even when he fell in the 20th over, the visitors still seemed to be making good progress. They reached 199-2 before suffering a dramatic collapse, losing their last eight wickets for just 27 runs once Karl Brown had departed for 41. Steven Croft (55) fought a lone hand from then on, but no other Lancashire batsman managed to make more than eight. Swart and Malik did the majority of the damage for the Dutch, claiming four wickets apiece.
